[edit] bots
Hi, I got a bot flag in the Hebrew Uncyclopeia and can't find the bot flag approve pages in the other wikis. Do you have any idea? doly19:12, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the process for getting Bot approval at other wikis can vary from highly bureaucratic to non-existant. Can you say which wikis in particular? -- JSharp (talk)

- Ah, I see. I believe that request system is per-wiki. That means that you'll need to request the bot flag on each wiki your bot needs to operate. Typical places to do this are in the forum or on some project space page. You'll need to look at each wiki individually to determine how to request a bot flag. -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] SMW on Bleach Wiki
JSharp, Semantic MediaWiki should probably be enabled on w:c:Bleach. They're using ACG's generic infoboxes so pages like w:c:bleach:Yoruichi Shihōin. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Sep 8, 2008 @ 03:03 (UTC)
- Okay, if you think they may want SMW then have them request it from me or another staff memeber. Can you point me toward a discussion on their wiki about it? :) -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] Confirming Cloak Request
I am now confirming that cloak request like you said.--Bardhast 23:30, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- This user appears to have 2 edits globally. Why may I ask have you approved this request? I see you are still yet to reply to my earlier query as well. Could you please look into these when you have a moment? Manticore (talk) 03:58, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Cloak requests are granted on an as come basis. The 50 contribution limit is a prioritisation measure and is not really meant to exclude. With regard to the primary versus main (uncyc/ versus wikia/ cloaks) cloak question, since the cloak's pupose is to tie an IRC account to a wiki account so that requests can be made with authority on IRC. I don't see any need to impose the edit restriction on a per-wiki basis so long as the user has reasonable cause to request a cloak in general. In short, users that abuse the system will have their cloak revoked or not granted but otherwise they're just guidelines. -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] namespace change
on c:counterstrike, the project space needs to be changed. My suggested change is "CSWiki", and as there's no one to argue with me... :). this is a note requested per irc. --Sky (talk) 18:06, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unactive Wiki(s)
I know this seems like something that belongs to the 'Wiki Adoption Page', but I have been waiting a while with no reply. Some of the wikis I have been on have been active for some time, but one has caught my attention. The Mythbusters wiki is protected on nearly every page, and I would like to request adminship. [edit] Technocracy wiki
I will bring this to the attention of several people.
User Isenhand who is also Dr. Andrew Wallace of the NET group created an article with false and misleading information in it, his group of which he is the Director (writing about himself) is an internet presence only... and trying to gain notability by falsely associating itself to an established group that they are not connected with. http://technocracy.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:NET This person has now blocked my user account for trying to edit the information to at least balance it a little... it is false and misleading as is, he is writing about himself and his group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:VSCA. As you, I hope can see... I am not a vandal or a troll. I am a serious editor with a lot of experience on English wikipedia. Isenhand or Dr. Wallace is writing about himself... he is the NET director... the article he wrote is cut and pasted from an article deleted on English wiki for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Network_of_European_Technocrats
It was also deleted on the Simple wikipedia for the same reasons http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=delete&page=:Network_of_european_technocrats It also was deleted from other misc. wiki European sites.
Andrew Wallace is filtering spam style using the information from a notable group... to promote a book he wrote on the NET web-site.. http:Disable Link//www.lulu.com/content/750510
I have edited to good purpose the article on Technocracy movement here http://technocracy.wikia.com/wiki/Technocracy_movement. That is an example of my good faith and neutrality. I act in good faith and would like to become an administrator here and also request you remove Isenhand from Administrator and possibly get rid of his account altogether or indefinitely ... as he will repeat over and over, maintaining an article for NET a commercial... though claimed not to be site... that is here to solicit donations. ... He restored NET information over and over on other websites until he was threatened with a block http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=delete&user=&page=Network_of_European_Technocrats He is spamming the internet in general with his information to promote himself and his book. Please therefore unblock me and either disable Isenhands account or remove him from controlling these articles. I would be happy to continue to neutrally improve the articles in that wiki then. And I request to be made admin of that wiki on Technocracy http://technocracy.wikia.com/wiki/User:Tbonepickensetc Tbonepickensetc 15:54, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you, but I believe that User:Tbonepickensetc was blocked unjustly. User:Isenhand has failed to respond to w:c:technocracy:Special:ProblemReports/13667 and w:c:technocracy:Talk:NET. Also, he blocked Tbonepickensetc without issuing any warning, and he never explaining to him why he was banned. The block logs says troll, but that is too vague. Can you please talk to User:Isenhand about this? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 18:09, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- It looks as though Tbonepickensetc has been unblocked on that wiki. It's possible that Isenhand did not see the problem report or the note on the NET talk page. My advice would be to leave them a courteous talk page message asking for better explanation of blocks and addressing the other issues you have with them in a calm and frank manor. If they do not respond then, I'll be happy to leave them a note asking for an explanation. It seems that you've already done this and that Catherine, who is another Wikia staff member, and Isenhand have both responded so I urge you to continue discussing the issues there. I would also like to note that I've privately responded to an e-mail sent by Tbonepickensetc regarding this same issue, but I'm also addressing it here for completeness. -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] Rename Wiki?
User:Argox has recently started "Wikifur, la enciclopedia furry". That title is too long, so we would like to rename it to just "WikiFur", so that it matches the other five wikis of the same title. Would it be possible to rename it? The reason I'm posting this instead of Argox is that we agreed that I should take care of the technical details. However, I'll have him come and confirm what I'm asking as soon as he can.
Thanks in advance. --Fibonacci 16:16, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
I confirm what Fibonacci stated previously, we would like to change the name of the wiki to "WikiFur" if its possible.

[edit] Le sigh
See [1]. anything wrong with this picture?
It's not sitewide .js, it's not sitewide .css, it's not a specific skin's styling. It's not global wikia, as cs.wikia.com obviously doesn't have issues. It /might/ be c:ssb:template:navbox or conflicting styling there. I'll poke a little more. --Sky (talk) 01:56, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Obviously tidy caused. It's not conflicting styling with navbox either. --Sky (talk) 14:29, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Actually I don't think it's tidy caused. It looks as though the problem may have been caused by caching. Clearing your cache and cookies and reloading the page should fix the issue. -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] R&C wiki friendship
Hi, recently a vote was taken on the Ratchet & Clank wiki to propose a friendship with two very related wikis, the Jak and Daxter wiki and the Resistance Fall of Man wiki. here and here show the proposals I left on administrators talk pages. On both wikis I've noticed a lack of activity from administrators, and I've recieved a message saying that the administrator isn't acitve form a user on one of the wikis. I was wondering if you could sort something out, for example create a forum on the wikis about it or something. I didn't want to do anything as I couldn't really start a vote on the other wikis, or if I could... well I didn't feel to comfortable about doing that on a wiki that I haven't edited properly. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could reply on any of my talk pages on any wiki I edit (here will do fine) Thanks, Hunterj | My talk 14:28, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Technocracy wikia
One user is pretty much in control of the Technocracy wikia site now. That person is Isenhand or Andrew Wallace.... director of NET who originated the first of the articles. That person is now spamming his self penned and vanity press published book. In other words through mismanagement here at wikia... a user has either page protected or blocked other users from editing and is controlling with a brand of P.O.V. edits information that is leading eventually to his self published book... and its biased and non notable information.
Andrew Wallace or Isenhand is not a notable person in regard to his claim of being the leader of a social movement. He has tied his notability on trying to connect himself to the actual notable movement Technocracy Incorporated... which he disparages through out his wikia writings... and especially has promoted false and misleading information in regard to Howard Scott... the original groups founder and leader.
I suggest that if control of the information can not be disconnected from this one biased editor who has either blocked or page protected himself from others... that the entire set of information in the wiki be removed, and this site of articles be taken down. As long as Isenhand or Dr. Andrew Wallace is going to use wikia for a spam promotion site.... he, if the past is any indication, is not going to provide good, neutral, objective information... and is going to control .. manipulate.. and give misleading or false information as to actual information on the subject of Technocracy Technate design... and the history and present situation of connected ideas. I would appreciate a cold and hard look being given http://technocracy.wikia.com/wiki/Technocracy_Wiki this whole series of articles with the view of either deleting the whole bunch now... or removing Isenhand from Administration. Thank you for your consideration. Tbonepickensetc 16:30, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Requesting Removal Of Administrative Status
Hello, I am here to request that you remove my Administrative/Bureaucrat status from the CABAL wiki (cabal.wikia.com) as I no longer play the game nor have the time or urge to keep it updated as no one else is interested in it and the only changes to it are either mine or vandalism. Hey, I hope I am not bothering you I am a member of Dragon Ball wikia And I was wondering Can I be some kind of Administrator (Hope I am not being horrid by being so direct)--Sk Nator 08:14, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- Normally, you'd ask at Wiki adoption requests, but this wiki does not meet such criterion. The wiki has an active community, with active sysops. If you would like to become an administrator, I'd check out their local page regarding that and contact Dantman for more information. Good luck. --CharitwoTalk 15:46, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

- Well, you don't seem to have many contributions there and looking at your other contributions to wikis on Wikia it appears that you've been accused of using multiple accounts to vandalize other wikis. My suggestion for the time being would be to hang out and edit there, reverting things where needed and contacting us when you need help, and then come back in a while to request again. -- JSharp (talk)

[edit] Semantic Issues
JSharp, I'm having some sudden issues with parts of my Semantic MediaWiki I was wondering if you could look into. First, I tried to create a new Semantic template like normal, allowing numbers to go in ascending order. However, for some odd reason, it now considers 13 above 3 or 4, for example. I understand why it might do that, but the exact same entry on sister templates results in a typical 1, 2, 3, 4,....13, order. I went to look at one of the other sister templates and it's not loading for some odd reason (http://thirdturn.wikia.com/wiki/Template:ResultFormMod). I throw that in because I'm not sure if the problems are related or not. Thanks DaNASCAT 14:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] IRC issue
Hey JSharp, Angela tells me you're handling a problem that recently occured on the #swfanon IRC channel. This is the one where all of the Operators had their flags removed so they could do nothing but basic operator commands, not being able to add to the Op list or anything else. This happened four days ago, within the same hour. The only ones who were not affected by this were the users Manticore, Jack Phoenix, Angela and possibly one other person, which I'm sure you already know. I'm told it will be fixed by tomorrow, and that whoever did it won't be able to do it again, but if at all possible I would appreciate it if you would be able to tell me who did this so we can deal with this matter in accordance with our IRC policies. Thank you. - Brandon Rhea (talk) 22:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

A small group of us have started Parkinson's.wiki.com, which we plan to develope into the central website for all things having to do with Parkinson's Disease. If all goes well, it will serve a U.S. community of 1.5 mil plus the international community. Catherine Munro helped us originally. Since then we have been trying to develope the site, but as you can see, we are not getting very far. Our goal is to create the opening page, which is to include a brief statement about us and our purposes. Then we'd like to have a site TOC, followed by a longer statment about who we are and our goals, followed by a copy of your policies governing participation, directions for beginners to contribute/edit, and then, a copy of Wikipedia's Parkinson's Disease pages. A list of topics to be developed by the community will follow. Our group is computer literate, but we are feeling stymied in our efforts to edit and add. It would be extremely useful if I/we could speak with someone there who would be willing to walk us through beginning steps and point us in the right direction re learning the language of wikia. Might that be possible? ThanksDavidEger 14:48, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HGW Wiki
Hey, I'm the creator of the Halo Galactic Wars Wiki, and though I've been absent for a while, my priorities are back in order. I was told by Angela you could help me. I want to change the name of the Wiki from FTF Halo wiki to Halo Archive. The link name will also need to be changed. Also, I would like if possible to have an Halo Archive IRC which was suggested by Angela as well. I have waited for Kirkburn, but I have not received anything from him. I await your reply.--Kebath 'Holoree
[edit] Random thought of the day
Would it be a good idea to redirect http://cs.wikia.com/ to wikia central or something, as 'cs' is actually the language code for the Czech language? While I use the redirect, and I'm sure others might, having that available to the main Wikia site might be a good idea... --Sky (talk) 23:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Problem with Wiki
I'm the sysop for the Andromeda Wikia (http://andromeda.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) and yesterday (Dec 2) the wiki had 493 articles. When I checked last night and this morning, it only had 491 articles. I checked the deletion logs, and none were deleted. So, I added a completely new article and the article count was unchanged. I sent a wikia error report, but any help would be appreciated. Please, this is a major problem and we need help. If you fix it or have an idea how to, just respond here.
[edit] Private Google's AdSense code on our Wiki pages
Hello Justin,
Your page http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Prohibited_content can be read as follows:
"All Wikia which are supported by the use of advertisements from Google must adhere to Google's AdSense policy, which means that certain content is prohibited. If you feel your wiki needs to include any of this content, please contact Wikia to discuss the matter so an alternative source of funding can be found for hosting that wiki. Please note that much of the content prohibited by AdSense is already prohibited by Wikia's own terms of use. "
Yet it seems that such an assertion is irrelevant and non-operational, as a simple member of Wiki like me would not be able to insert his personal Google's AdSense code on its Wiki pages.
Otherwise, what is the proper procedure to follow to put private AdSense code on our Wiki pages.
Thank you for your attention and kind cooperation.
Titus

[edit] SWF IRC issue
Hey jSharp. Since you're more involved with tech stuff then I am, could you please tell Freenode that the #swfanon channel has been forwarded to #halopedia by someone who thinks they're hilarious yet are clearly not? If you could also have them determine who was responsible for this then that would be greatly appreciated, as it's important to deal with this person under our policies. Thank you. - Brandon Rhea (talk) 01:01, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- You can ignore this. After weeding through Freenode incompetence for over three hours, we were able to correct it. Thanks anyway. - Brandon Rhea (talk) 20:45, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] IRC cloak
Hello. I am leaving this message so you can confirm the request. Here is the original message from the request I sent.

Reply: Excellent. Just find me on freenode when I (nick is JSharp) and a Freenode staff member are online and I'll be happy to get your cloak setup :)

[edit] JS question
Hi, ok im space standardizing between the different codes i have and i notice this i have mark it on red below.
ContentLoader.prototype.send = function(url, postdata, contentType)
{
var method = (postdata == null) ? 'GET' : 'POST';
this.request = this.createRequest();
this.request.open(method, url);
if(!this.cache)
this.request.setRequestHeader( "If-Modified-Since", "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT" );
var request = this.request;
var loader = this;
if(postdata == null)
{
if(contentType == null)
contentType = 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded';
request.setRequestHeader('Content-type', contentType);
}
var f = function()
{
if(request.readyState == 4)
{
loader.text = request.responseText;
loader.document = request.responseXML;
request = null;
loader.request = null;
loader.callback();
}
}
this.request.onreadystatechange = f;
this.request.send(postdata);
}
Now my question with this JavaScript Block(red part) belongs to the variable declaration like this:
var f = function() {
if(request.readyState == 4) {
loader.text = request.responseText;
loader.document = request.responseXML;
request = null;
loader.request = null;
loader.callback();
}
}
or its just a separate Javascript block like this:
var f = function()
{
if(request.readyState == 4) {
loader.text = request.responseText;
loader.document = request.responseXML;
request = null;
loader.request = null;
loader.callback();
}
}
